If you want to hit the coast, Mousehole in Cornwall is hard to beat at Christmas. The famous harbor lights of the small town attract visitors from all over the country as they illuminate the streets, the beach and even the sea. Take some spectacular photos that you can treasure forever and enjoy some real holiday cheer. Now turning 48, the lights are turned on every night between 5:00 PM and 11:00 PM, until January 3, 2012. In addition to the lights, Mousehole has much more to offer, including traditional grocery stores. Cornish souvenirs, cozy pubs and excellent restaurants.

If you prefer to stay indoors, Birmingham is a great destination for a Christmas vacation. The city’s annual Frankfurt Christmas Market, the largest open-air Christmas market in the country, is very popular. With its craft stalls, unique gifts, and delicious food, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from! Try a variety of German sausages and enjoy a pint or two to keep warm. Of course, Birmingham also has a wide range of other stores so you can satisfy any last minute Christmas shopping needs. It is also a great city for fine dining, so cozy for a family meal or a candlelight dinner.

Scotland has a lot to offer at Christmas. If you visit Edinburgh, you will get a taste of life in Scotland’s capital, amidst beautiful architecture, great festive spirit and shopping to die for. There is also a fun outdoor skating rink where you can put your skills to the test on the ice! Away from the city, you can relax in a cozy cottage on the edge of a Scottish lake, where the views are unsurpassed and you can enjoy festive walks through the countryside.

If you want to go a little further, the Disney theme parks in Paris are the best destination for the Christmas holidays. With Disney attractions, shows, parades and more, Disneyland is magical any time of year, but at Christmas it really comes alive. From November 7, 2011 to January 8, 2012, the celebrations offer something for everyone, no matter how old you are. The parks are decorated with bright lights and with a giant Christmas tree, you are guaranteed to be in a festive atmosphere. Meet characters including Mickey Mouse in all his festive finery and take a photo with them to capture magical memories. In Santa Claus Village, you can even send your wish list to St Nick himself, as well as see him live at the ‘Once Upon a Dream’ parade. If you want to give your children (and yourself) an unforgettable Christmas, then Disneyland is definitely the place to be!
