The New York Yankees need a major overhaul from top to bottom. Yankees pitching coach Ron Guidry shouldn’t be there. Brian Cashman shouldn’t either. Joe Torre fits this team and any other team. The Yankees pitching is the worst I’ve seen in years. With all the money spent on payroll, the staff still can’t complete a game. The bullpen is pathetic. This year’s team has the hitting to become a contender, but that’s where the puck stops.
Right now the cheapest seats you can find are about fifty bucks and that’s for a set of devil rays. I’m not paying to watch a team knowing they have no control over winning. Absolutely no confidence is shown on the pitch. People tell me that the only reason they go to the games is because they want to see the ymca dance. That’s how terrible the Yankee games have been. Brian Cashman should go immediately. As CEO, if he can’t motivate a team, he shouldn’t be in the job.
The payroll is through the roof. Imagine pitching for the Yankees, pitching three innings and getting pulled every two starts, and making four million dollars a year? You and I could do as well as some of the openings I’ve seen this year. I personally think contracts should be read if you can’t go past a certain entry where you don’t get paid. If you do well, you should be compensated for it. If you do it wrong, you still get paid, just not as much as in the real world. Take away some of the perks. Playing in New York is what all the kids play for. Getting there and just cashing the checks is pathetic. The Yankees have been heading in the wrong direction lately and leadership is missing from the front office to the field. It is time to change things. Now is the time not at the end of the season.
Is Steinbrenner wrong to complain? With a payroll that’s astronomical and players who don’t produce, you can’t blame him. I know I won’t be paying for another Yankees ticket until a trade is made. I will not let these players cash checks and play horribly every week. Why should I pay for a lousy performance? I can sit at home and watch baseball games for free. The whole point of going to a baseball game is to enjoy the performance of the professionals. These guys are not playing like professionals at all. The Yankees need a trade now.
