The number one reason why Asian women are so thin is because of the social demands placed on them by the media and the fashion industry. Youth and beauty are defined by having an underdeveloped body with apparently childish features. There is also some genetics involved. Biology tells us that evidence for early humans exhibited similar traits associated with neoteny. The word itself is rarely used to denote underdevelopment, or individuals who retain clear youthful features into adulthood. In the modern vernacular we use derogatory expressions such as pancake chest, flat bottom, flat like a board, skin and bones, and other more colorful and offensive expressions to denote an underdeveloped and thin person.

Not having breasts, buttocks and something unrelated called “Yaeba”, a Japanese word that means paw tooth in English, is completely destroying the natural beauty of Japanese women. Being thin and undernourished is a deprivation of oneself and therefore goes against the natural development of the body. Eat three full meals a day and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Clothing stores market the idea of cuteness and ‘forever 21’ to appeal to young women in their teens and twenties. The idea that by dressing like you’re 21 you can make yourself 21 again has been a marketing strategy for decades. It’s as if the media barons of Tokyo and Shibuya are working alongside the fashion industry to deliberately promote slim young women as opposed to healthy young women. Having too much physical maturity is considered little Japanese. There seems to be a certain sense of impurity associated with being and looking overly mature.

Japanese women are inundated with images of slim women in fashion magazines, movies, and movies. Often times these slim women are depicted living a good life and they seem to be happy and satisfied by all the friends and lovers they seem to have. Young Japanese women set abnormally high expectations for themselves by experimenting with unhealthy fad diets that end up doing more harm than good. When they go shopping, they want to be able to fit into clothes that look cute, which often have a 24-26cm waist size. That is very small.

Manga is another reason why too. Cartoons are often drawn with abnormally small scraps. It doesn’t end there, Japanese men prefer to date slimmer women, often with youthful features. Older women feel isolated and underrated for their own natural beauty. This rejection of the natural has been eating away at society in Japan for decades and has been one of the major contributing factors to the depression and suicide of many young women.
