The Hopi have waited for three people for many, many years, for centuries. Were these three people the Cherokee elder John Red Hat, his companion Dorothy (Dottie) Daigle (The Lady in White), and an anthropologist friend? Chief Mike of Oraibi accepted these three as bearers of Pahana’s anointing, though there is one more unfulfilled prophecy that will validate Pahana: the small piece of holy tablet that the White Brother took with him when he left. When he returns, it is prophesied that he will bring it with him. The creator’s plans often appear to be complex, multi-threaded. Were the three that the Hopi have been waiting for really only three people, or could they also be three forces? In any case, all three are identified by symbols, and legend has it that they will help the Hopi people survive when all seems hopeless, and this will be before the time of the Great Purge.
These three legendary symbols are the Sun symbol, the Moha (swastika) symbol, and the Red symbol. Dottie believes that the Sun symbol is a symbol of the Creator, the Moha symbol is a symbol of the four forces of nature that will be set in motion, air, water, earth and fire, and the Red symbol is the spiritual path Walking. down the Red Path that the ancestors ordered him to write.
