Take your major credit cards, MasterCard, Visa and American Express with you. Make sure they are all credit cards and not just debit cards. Many places are more likely to require a credit card rather than a debit card. Plus, you’ll want to leave all your local store credit cards at home, which will only burden your wallet.
You may want to notify your credit card company or companies in advance of your air travel if you will be away for an extended period or traveling a long distance. They can delay you if they are not aware of your trip. Unknown spending patterns may lead them to suspect fraudulent activity on the card. Use your credit card when you travel, and you’ll probably get a better exchange rate than changing the currency yourself. Plus, you won’t risk your security by carrying and displaying large amounts of cash. Just be sure to keep track of how much you spend… it’s easy to lose count with exchange rates.
